15 Reasons To Explore The Wonders Of The West Coast – Part 1

As we approach year end, I frequently hear the words “Where has the year gone?” or “The time has flown by far too quickly!” And I share the same sentiments, although perhaps for slightly different reasons. I’ve enjoyed a whirlwind first year of blogging about travel, food and wine (some of my fave things in life!). I’ve met some amazing people online and many in person that have now become friends. I’ve also had the great pleasure of enjoying some incredible travel experiences within beautiful South Africa.

The quaint and charming town of Tulbagh in the Western Cape holds many special memories for my family and I. It’s probably the area that we visit the most when we go on weekend getaways. Sometimes it’s the three of us and other times it’s just hubby and I. So why Tulbagh? The majestic mountains, spectacular scenery, award-winning wines, delicious traditional local cuisine, excellent accommodation options and an array of activities and experiences make Tulbagh the perfect long weekend getaway from the city. And if you just want to chill with a glass or two of wine and take in the beautiful views, that’s fine too.

Get Your Brew On At Thousand Sensations!

When we first arrived in Cape Town in 2005 after four years in the Cayman Islands, I was on a serious mission to visit as many wine estates as possible. After all, hubby and I were both from Port Elizabeth and there weren’t any wineries around. As gorgeous as Grand Cayman was, it was all about the beach – sun, sand and sea had been a way of life for us (I know, tough life!). If I wanted wine, I could get it at liquor stores, restaurants and bars.
