For the love of coffee & chocolate

We spent Heritage Day at the popular Cape Town Coffee & Chocolate Expo. This festival, celebrating all things coffee and chocolate, is a coffee and chocoholic’s dream come true! If you were there, you will know what I’m talking about. If not, make sure you don’t miss out on this fun and festive event next year that will have your taste buds doing a happy dance all day long! Held at the Green Point Cricket Club, it offers something for everyone.

Seafood delights at Saltwater Grill!

What comes to mind when you think of seafood? If you’re a BIG seafood lover like I am, I go into foodie heaven just thinking of crispy salt & pepper calamari, big bowls of juicy, plump mussels drenched with a lovely, aromatic sauce, grilled butterflied prawns with a rich garlic lemon butter sauce or a spicy seafood paella with tons of flavour. Ok, now I’m officially hungry and craving seafood! 😉 (more…)

West Coast spring flowers & craft beers

I am a sucker for road trips. Any “excuse” really to get out there and explore! That’s what makes Cape Town and the stunning surrounding areas so awesome.  There are seemingly endless and easily accessible options for day trips. Whether you love the beach, enjoy mountain or forest hikes, shopping at a local market or exploring the many beautiful wine estates the Cape has to offer.  So many options, so little time!

Family fun at the Thursday Food Market

One thing I noticed almost immediately when we moved to Pinelands nearly 3 years ago, is that there is a genuine sense of community spirit. It’s something we haven’t really experienced in the time that we’ve lived in Cape Town.  It’s evident at the Thursday Food Market at The Pinelands Club in Lonsdale Way (5pm – 830pm).

This weekly food market is very popular among the Pinelands community and we try to go at least twice a month. It’s a great spot to catch up with family and friends, enjoy a leisurely meal (yay for no cooking!) over a drink or two.

There are many familiar faces including the friendly food vendors that sell their delicious homemade goodies.  Whether you’re in the mood for Mexican, Thai, Greek or Indian food, they’ve got it. Maybe pork roast with crunchy crackling and all the trimmings? Banters are catered for as well. Generously filled schwarmas and wraps feature too and those with a sweet tooth will not be disappointed.
