For the love of coffee & chocolate

We spent Heritage Day at the popular Cape Town Coffee & Chocolate Expo. This festival, celebrating all things coffee and chocolate, is a coffee and chocoholic’s dream come true! If you were there, you will know what I’m talking about. If not, make sure you don’t miss out on this fun and festive event next year that will have your taste buds doing a happy dance all day long! Held at the Green Point Cricket Club, it offers something for everyone.

Where else can you experience various Pairing Theatres and Workshops for FREE? (booked on a first come, first serve basis). Tickets to enter the Expo were priced between R100 and R120 per person. You will find everything from pairing wine, liqueur and vodka with chocolate (yum!) and watching the expert baristas make a great cup of coffee with trendy and innovative coffee machines available at The Steampunk Experience.

The Chocolate Workshop, brought to you by Beyers Chocolates, in The Daily News section showed all the latest chocolate trends and culinary delights with your favourite chef.

Pallet Point was the perfect spot to just chill and relax while enjoying delish coffee and chocolate delights.

Zorb Balls and an outdoor jungle gym kept the kids entertained. Actually, I spotted some adults having fun taking the Zorb balls for a spin or two!

I think my favourite area was the Cocoa Mokka Music Lounge. Chilling out and listening to some of SA’s Top up and coming artists headlined by Freshlyground amongst many others. We arrived in time to listen to the awesome rock sounds of Richard Stirton, The Voice SA winner.

Up and coming band Ben Dey and the Concrete Lions were next followed by another popular SA muso, Michael Lowman.

By now, I’d had my fill of coffee and chocolate for the day, so we sat listening to music with a glass of wine or two. Mind you, the Diemersfontein Pinotage had a very distinct coffee and dark chocolate flavour to it.

So mark it on next year’s calendar now as this is definitely an event not to be missed, especially if you live and breathe all things coffee and chocolate!
