“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” This well-known sonnet by Elizabeth Barrett Browning may not refer to a person in this case, but rather a place, and a very special one at that.

Before you think that I have totally lost the plot by quoting a sonnet, I can assure you that I am of perfectly sound mind (well, somewhat!). If you have ever stayed in the magical village of McGregor, you will know that this sonnet is very apt. There are many reasons to fall in love with this charming and quaint village. The Western Cape Province has a seemingly endless selection of amazing places you can escape to when you need a break from busy city living. If the beach is your happy place and you crave a much-needed getaway beside the ocean or hiking in the woods gives your body, mind and soul a chance to revive and a cute self-catering cabin is home for a few days; all this and more can be found in my home province. There are literally thousands of unique destinations and locations to create those special memories.
